Compounding Interest
Effects of compounding returns at 10%:
You invest $1,000.00.
At the end of year one your $1,000 has earned 10% = $100.00.
The total value is now $1,100.00.
At the end of year two, your $1,100.00 has earned 10% = $110.00.
The total value is now $1,210.00.
Notice that you earned $10 on the $100 interest from the previous year.
The next year you will earn interest on the $110. Sounds minor - and it
is over the short term but over the long term it really magnifies.
In 30 years a $1,000.00 investment will grow to over $15,000.00!
